Commercial & Office

    Ferris Coffee and Nut Co.

Ferris Coffee and Nut purchased the former American Seating building on Seward Avenue to house its manufacturing, distribution and office facilitates under one roof. Previously, Ferris Coffee’s manufacturing plant and offices were on Winter Avenue in Grand Rapids, while its warehouse was across town. The new plant on Seward Avenue offers space for future growth.
Erhardt was selected as the Construction Manager of this design-build renovation. The mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems were all upgraded, the building’s stance was improved, as well as the overall appearance.
A challenging aspect of the project involved eliminating allergens and cross-contamination in the manufacturing process. New paths of process were created for the raw (coffee and nut) production.
Erhardt also installed a 26,000 SF cooler to keep raw products fresh. Various GMP and washrooms for food processing were also included within the project.
